Pet Memorial Tattoos in Singapore: Ideas, Details and What to Expect From the Appointment
Updated: Oct 31
Losing a pet leaves a quiet that nothing else fills. For a lot of people, a memorial tattoo is a way of keeping them close, and of not having to explain to anyone why they miss a dog or a cat so much.
I'm Jeremin, and at Onuby Ink in Singapore I draw pet memorial portraits from your own photos, so the tattoo looks like them and no one else's. This is the work I care about most. My own dog, Bueno, is where the name Onuby (one of his many nicknames) comes from, and I have done close to a thousand pet portraits since 2022. There is no pressure to decide anything quickly, and you are welcome to just tell me about them first.
What a pet memorial tattoo can be
There is no single right way to do it. A memorial can be a detailed portrait, or it can be one small thing that was only theirs. Here are some of the things people choose.
A realistic portrait
Their face and their expression, in black and grey or in colour. This is the most common choice, and it is the one where the quality of your photos matters most.
Decorating with elements
Their name, the dates, flowers, a small rainbow, or the collar tag they always wore. A name in script, set quietly beside the portrait, is one of the most popular additions.
A paw print or nose print
If you took one at home or at the vet, it can be worked into the design. I can design one from a photo of their paw as well.
Something that was only theirs
The toy they carried around, the spot they always lay in, the way they tilted their head.
Together
A pet who has passed beside one who is still with you, or two pets who grew up side by side.
If your photos are not perfect
When it is a memorial, you cannot go and take a better photo, so send what you have. Old phone photos, blurry ones, ones where they are half out of the frame. Choosing the right one is easier than people think. Look for the photo that shows their face most clearly and feels most like them, even if it is not technically the best.
What helps most is a photo where the eyes are visible and the light is not harsh. If there is not one, I can sometimes work from several photos together. Send a few from different angles and tell me which one feels the most like them. I will tell you honestly what is possible before you commit to anything.
Black and grey, or colour
Black and grey is the classic choice for a memorial. It looks timeless and holds fur texture well. Colour is a good choice if their colouring was a big part of who they were, like a ginger cat or a golden retriever. If you would like colour, say so and we will talk about what suits their coat.
Where on the body
This one is personal. Some people want it somewhere they can see every day, like the forearm. Others want it private, like the shoulder blade, upper arm or thigh, so it is theirs to show or not. A portrait needs enough size to hold its detail, so tell me the size you have in mind in centimetres and where, and we will work out what fits.
What the appointment is like
The studio is private and I work alone, so you will not be in a room full of strangers. It is calm, and I will not rush the session. Many of my clients are getting their first tattoo, and some are getting this one for a pet they lost recently, so I will explain everything as we go and you can take your time.
How to start
Message me on WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram (@onubyink). Tell me about your pet, send a few photos, and let me know the size, the placement and whether you would like colour or black and grey. A non-refundable deposit secures your slot and starts the design. A complimentary touch-up is included if needed, and healing takes about 1 to 1.5 months. Sessions are by appointment only.
If you are not ready to book, that is okay. You can just write to me.
